Integrating Conversational AI into Complex Real Estate Data Systems
Project Overview
Rockhood is an AI-powered platform designed to support real estate professionals in managing property research and client communication. The platform integrates property listings, market insights, and workflow tools into a unified conversational interface.
As the sole product designer, I was responsible for UX, UI, information architecture, and cross-platform design across desktop and mobile. The product has launched across multiple U.S. states, including Washington, Arizona, and California.
The Challenge
Real estate professionals work with large amounts of structured information. These systems are powerful but complex. Conversational AI introduces a new way to access information, but it is inherently unstructured and ambiguous. The key design challenge was integrating conversational AI into a data-heavy professional workflow without overwhelming users.
Platform Architecture
Challenge 1: Navigating Complex Property Data Through Conversation
Real estate platforms contain large amounts of structured property data. Conversational AI allows users to access this information through natural language, but queries can vary widely in scope — from broad market comparisons to detailed questions about a single property. The challenge was designing a conversational system that could support these different levels of inquiry while keeping results clear and structured.

Traditional real estate platforms rely on structured navigation such as filters, listings, and maps. Adding conversational AI introduces a second interaction layer. The challenge was creating a hybrid experience where conversation and structured browsing work together as one system rather than two separate interfaces.

Mobile Experience
In addition to the desktop platform, a mobile experience was designed. The mobile interface focuses on quick access to property information while on the go. To support hands-free exploration, the mobile app introduces real-time voice conversation with the AI assistant. This allows users to discuss properties while browsing listings or viewing maps, creating a more natural interaction flow between conversation and visual information.

Connecting Buyers and Agents
While the agent workspace focuses on managing complex property data, the platform also includes a mobile experience for home buyers. The buyer interface is designed for property discovery and seamless connection with real estate professionals. Users can explore listings, receive agent recommendations, and directly contact agents through phone or messaging. This connection creates a continuous flow between buyer inquiries and the agent workspace, helping professionals respond more efficiently.
